Shri Sadguru Manik Prabhu Maharaj was a great saint and yogi who walked the earth in the early nineteenth century to restore love and humanity lurking in the doldrums and to liberate religion from the confines of narrow dogmatism. Regarded as an incarnation of Bhagwan Shri Dattatreya, Shri Prabhu was a philosopher par excellence and a great thinker who lived and breathed his philosophy of SAKALAMATA SIDDHANT – the gospel of love, humanity, and oneness that firmly rests on the Upanishadic principles of ‘ekam sadvipra bahudha vadanti‘, while teaching it to others. A poet-saint that he was, his innumerable compositions in Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, and Sanskrit, which, apart from being literary masterpieces in themselves, are divine hymns that proclaim the essential oneness of the ultimate reality, not to mention their inherent musical brilliance. Shri Prabhu attained Sanjivani Maha-Samadhi at Maniknagar in the year 1865. The institution founded by Shri Prabhu in the year 1845 for the propagation of his teachings is today known as Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan and is among the important spiritual organisations of the country. The Samsthan is presently headed by His Holiness Shri Dnyanraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj, the present Peethadhipati in the illustrious Guru-Parampara.

Advait Vedanta forms the basis of Shri Prabhu’s Sakalmata Siddhanta. The Samsthan has today become an active centre for propagation of Advait philosophy. The annual Vedanta Saptah Mahotsava is an opportunity for the seekeers to learn vedanta in a modern class room setting from none other than Shreeji himself. Manik Pournima Parva, the monthly series of vedantic lectures by Shreeji helps devotees imbibe spirituality in their daily lives. Apart from the pravachans during his tours, Shreeji also holds online discourses on the Bhagwat Geeta and the Upanishads.

Our scriptures have hailed Annadan as one of the greatest charities (Na Bhavati Samatulyam Annadanaihi Samanam). The Samsthan, since the times of Shri Prabhu, has carried forward the unbroken tradition of Annadana Seva. No pilgrim who visits Maniknagar, ever returns without having Prasad, which is served free of cost in the temple kitchen popularly known as the Bhandarkhana. All through the year and during special occasions such as Datta Jayanti Mahotsava, Vedanta Saptah Mahotsava and Shravan Mass, thousands of devotees, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, partake the bliss of Mahaprasad.

The annual Datta Jayanti Mahotsava is the most important event in the Samsthan’s calendar. Among the saints in the Dattareya Parampara, Shri Prabhu is the only one whose birthday coincides with Datta Jayanti. The week-long festival begins with the Punyatithi of Shri Prabhu (on the Shukla Ekadashi of Margasheersh Maas) and concludes with his birth anniversary celebrations (on Margaheersh Pournima), the festival culminates in the grand Darbar celebrations held on the next evening. The festival witnesses congregation of thousands of devotees, cutting across geographical, linguistic, social and religious barriers.

Shravan Maas Bilwarchan Seva

Shravan Maas Mahotsava will be held from 9th August to 7th September 2021. This auspicious month has its own significance in Shri Prabhu Sampradaya. Many important events of Samsthan’s calender fall during this month, such as: Gaadi Ashtami, Krishna Janmashtami, and Venkamma Aradhana. On special ocassions like Somvaar, Shreeji himself performs mahapooja and pradosha-pooja. Sahasra Bilwarchan Seva of Shri Prabhu Samadhi will be performed daily. Devotees can participate in the Bilwarchan Seva and avail blessings.
